War Room

I saw the movie War Room last night. We received it from Netflix. When the movie first came out, in 2015, I didn't see it, brushing it off as a movie just about prayer. And yet, why would I brush it off? I need to see a movie about prayer. I need that encouragement. I was encouraged.

Granted, the movie presents a problem - a marriage gone bad. And two people fighting with other and presenting the premise that we need to fight our battles instead with prayer. We are to treat one another not with anger and arguing and defensive speech. We can't change people, but God can change them. So fight your battles in prayer. The couple reconciled. Tough situations occurred, like losing a job, but through it all, they trusted God and his word and good things happened.

After the movie was over, I grabbed Pamela and said, "Let's pray." I thought about the movie and how people prayed. They looked for verses that applied to the person they were praying for, so I wrote down Ezekiel 36:26 for Derek. And then as we were praying for Megan and Brandon Pamela voiced words from another verse - Philippians 2:3-4. So that's the idea.

Derek - Ezekiel 36:26 - Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Lord, steal Derek away from Satan. Give him a new heart. His heart right now is overflowing with bitterness, anger; it is unsettled. Put a new spirit within him. Purchase him. Bring salvation to him. Remove the heart of stone from his flesh. Remove the spirit of fear. Give him a heart of flesh. He needs to breath again.

Brandon/Megan - Philippians 2:3-4 -  Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

Lord, change Brandon and Megan's habits of selfishness and defining their lives by selfish ambitions. Bring humility to their thinking so that they regard one another as more important than themselves. Bring a sensitivity to each of them toward one another.
